I found this set of photos by surprise, when I was browsing the online image archive of Library of Congress years ago.
Wang Ying was quite a prominent actress, both stage and film, in 30s of Shanghai. She is also the "underground" member of Chinese Communist Party.
It has been widely reported in chinese sources that Wang Ying's 3 years tour to US for performance and Anti-fascist propaganda was a fruitful and highly notable one. I believe some of the photos here did speak for this fact to certain extent.
Well, again a tragic life, she was primarily targeted by Madame Mao (jiang Qing) during cultural revolution, and was badly tortured that eventually causes her death. It seems to be a vengence from Madame Mao, due to a past incident happened back in 1936.

I have always been wondering, what had happened to Wang Ying and Li-li Li during their American years.
There should be a lot more than what we have known so far.
Oldflames, I've tried before to find some newspaper articles about Li Li-li, but so far no luck. Part of the difficulty is that I can never tell how their names are going to be spelled by the American press. I'll keep trying! :)
